Digital Equipment Corporation
I had a couple Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) Alpha bare
motherboards I bought off eBay.
Unfortunately they arrived in terrible condition and didn't last very
long.
Alphas were my first 64-bit CPUs and DEC played the MHz game to the
hilt.
Alpha was also the first Windows NT port off Intel as well as running
DEC's own OpenVMS and their Ultrix POSIX OS.
The Multia, in fact, arrived with Ultrix install media but no hard disk
drive.
Re-homing the motherboards with appropriate support hardware and
installing Linux was relatively easy as Alphas were a popular target at
the time.
Unfortunately neither board lasted through or much beyond the OS
install.
Eventually I gave up on getting a decent Alpha as availability declined
and prices increased.
I ended up stripping the RAM and recycling the hardware.
